V4 ESCROW IP MARKET REPORT
Transfers have been recorded in the APNIC region even before the runout date of April 15, 2011. Two transfers have been recorded in the APNIC statistics in November 2010 and two others in 2011. In 2011, APNIC approved transfers totaling 83 prefixes in 35 transfers requests. In total, 1,600,768 IP addresses were transfered between APNIC members in 2010 and 2011.
2012 provided the first transfers from ARIN to APNIC. Four Inter-RIR transfers were transacted in 2012 and 15 in 2013. The total number of IPs transferred from ARIN to APNIC in 2012 and 2013 was 544,512.
In 2012, APNIC approved total transfers of 167 prefixes in 84 transfer requests. In total, 1,821,632 IP addresses were transfered of which 1,792 came from ARIN. 2013 has seen 194 prefixes transferred on 101 requests. In total, 2,002,944 IP addresses were transferred and 542,720 came from ARIN.
The number of requests has increased in 2013 with about 16%. APNIC has transfered 20% more prefixes for an increase of 9% in the number of IPs. Considering the trend in the past two years, we expect to see at least 2 million IPs transferred between APNIC members in 2014.
